Turns out to be a bug with using a PAC file for a proxy.
Were you using the PAC file in Firefox’s settings or system settings?
System Settings.
Odd, I’m pretty sure we’re running the same or similar setup, but haven’t noticed any slowness. How did you discover the problem?
Today I started getting a script has stopped responding error message and did some Google searching, which turned up a Mozilla bug report. Apparently the problem has been around since 3.x versions. Not sure why it just started to affect me in the past two weeks though.
Weird, I’ll keep my eye out for it.
Just tried in Firefox and everything was slow as molasses again.
Installed the Firefox 10 beta and it has the same problem when I turn on the proxy. It’s incredible how slow it gets.
