Quickie: 02/27/2008 12:04:06am

I’ve read 26 books by James Patterson since I started near the end of October 2007. I doubt I had previously read that many novels in my life.

Hide and Seek might be the best Patterson book I’ve read so far. Read in one day.

I hope Double Cross arrives tomorrow so I can finish off James Patterson’s Alex Cross series on my trip. In addition to reading up through Cross, I also read The Midnight Club and The Jester this week.

What are you reading? I’m enjoying fiction by James Patterson’s, but I’m interested in other types of books as well.

Finished 3 James Patterson books in the last 4 days.

Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich

“Pistol” Pete Maravich was the greatest college basketball player to ever play the game. The “Pistol” was a guard and he averaged over 40 points a game throughout college before there was ever a 3 point line. He had a great shot and actually made a lot of shots which would have easily been worth [...]

Review: The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King

Inside the Richest Poker Game of All Time
I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf since Christmas, when I received it as a gift. A few weeks ago I finally got around to reading it and finished it last week. It ranks right up near the top with some of the other poker related books [...]

2 New Books

A couple of new books came in from Amazon today…

High-Low-Split Poker, Seven-Card Stud and Omaha Eight-or-better for Advan (Advance Player)
Harrington on Hold\’em Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments: Endgame, 2

I’ve been enjoying tournaments lately so HOH2 was a no brainer buy, especially after I liked Volume I so much. Hold’em gets boring at times so [...]

Poker Podcasts

On my rides to and from work each day I’ve been listening to poker podcasts. Listening to poker discussions keep my mind off the traffic. In the mornings the poker talk gets my mind thinking and after work it helps to relax me after a long day.
My favorite poker podcast without a doubt is Card [...]

Poker Hacks

As many of the poker bloggers know, Doubleas is writing a book for the O’Reilly Hacks Series which will be titled Poker Hacks. The people contributing to the book make a who’s who list of poker bloggers. Earlier this week Doubleas contacted me to see if I’d like to contribute something from Poker Chip Tricks [...]

Review: Harrington on Hold'em – Volume I

I finally finished reading the best poker book available on tournament play. Dan Harrington has done the poker world a great service by writing Harrington on Hold’em. I would have finished the book much sooner, but it was my bathroom reader, so I was only reading 10-15 pages a day.
Harrington breaks down the game of [...]

Review: Deception Point

Dan Brown wrote another great book with Deception Point. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it and ended up finished all 550+ pages in a few days. That’s pretty good for me. I’d have to say that this is my second favorite (to The Da Vinci Code) book by Brown.
I’m not [...]

Review: First Strike (Halo)

This book is the 3rd in the series and should be an enjoyable read for any Halo fan. First Strike tells the story that leads up the action experienced while playing the video game Halo 2.
Master Chief is the main character as you might expect, but there are other Spartans as well as Cortana and [...]

Bringing Down the House

Bringing Down the House is the best book related to gambling I’ve ever read. Read my review at MtDewVirus.

Review: Bringing Down the House

After reading the back cover of this book I knew I had to read it. Bringing Down the House is the story of how M.I.T. students beat the house. They took Las Vegas and other casinos around the country for millions of dollars.
The book is one of the best I’ve ever read. It was one [...]

Review: Poker Face

Katy Lederer writes about growing up as the younger sister to Howard Lederer and Annie Duke. Poker Face is her true story among the gamblers. The writing is fresh and the content kept me reading.
If you’d like a unique behind the scenes story about some poker pros I suggest you read this book. You’ll find [...]

Review: Zen and the Art of Poker

This book is good for bathroom material. It’s broken down into small sections so you can easily read a few pages here and there. Zen and the Art of Poker is nothing more than a collection of quotes relating to Zen. The author attempts to relate everything back to poker, but it doesn’t feel right. [...]

Zen and the Art of Poker : Timeless Secrets to Transform Your Game

Review: Winning Low-Limit Hold'em

Lee Jones did a good job writing Winning Low Limit Hold’em. The book is a solid 193 pages of information for low limit Texas Hold’em players. If I hadn’t read SSH and ITH, I would have really been impressed, but WLLH was pretty much the same information, but just a shorter format.
Jones breaks the book [...]

Review: Killer Poker Online

I’ve read some columns by John Vorhaus online and enjoyed what I read. His book, Killer Poker Online: Crushing the Internet Game, is a completely different story. The book is a waste of time and money. I’m glad a friend bought the book for me or I would have been very disappointed in the read.
I [...]
