I sold the Poker Chip Tricks site nearly 10 months ago. The only activity at the site since the changes in ownership have been different advertising and one a offering free poker chips when signing up through Poker Source Online. I wonder if the US online gambling changes affected what was planned for the future of the site.
Any regular visitors to Poker Chip Tricks probably noticed some changes that started over a month ago. Recently those changes became even more apparent as all of the Google ads were completely removed and other cosmetic changes were made.
Why all of the changes?
I’ve sold the site and no longer own any of the domains or content. I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse and felt the time was right to get rid of the site. I’ve agreed not to come out and say exactly who bought it, but I’m very confident they’ll do a great job with the site. In the end, I think both parties received a great deal. The whole deal ended up taking nearly 4 months, which was about 2 months too long due to the lawyers battling back and forth. I learned a lot during the process and will be ready if I’m lucky enough to sell another site in the future.
I want to thank everyone who linked to pokerchiptricks.com at one time or another, which helped me get the site all the way to #1 on Google when searching for “poker chip tricks” and in the top 10 for “poker chips.”
If you’d like to help with my next site, you can link to http://docardtricks.com/ with the words “Card Tricks” as the link text. I haven’t done much with the site since it was launched, but I have a few new tricks planned which I hope to put out there soon.
I want to say a great big THANKS! to everyone who has linked to Poker Chip Tricks at one time or another. Google finally took notice in their recent updates and PCT is now the first result when you search for “poker chip tricks”.
Stay tuned for a new site that should be ready over the weekend.
As many of the poker bloggers know, Doubleas is writing a book for the O’Reilly Hacks Series which will be titled Poker Hacks. The people contributing to the book make a who’s who list of poker bloggers. Earlier this week Doubleas contacted me to see if I’d like to contribute something from Poker Chip Tricks and I couldn’t say yes quick enough. I can’t teach you any poker lessons or knock your socks off with my writing, but I can teach you a chip trick or two. He announced it on his blog today, so I figured I could spill the beans here now as well.
PCT has been in one magazine (twice so far), a different magazine on the way, and now a poker book.
Poker Chip Tricks has opened an online store with 3 main designs and several products to choose from.
