Google Adsense Flickering Fix
I don’t know how long I’ve been bothered by the Firefox problem with Google Adsense ad blocks. I’m sure you know what I’m referring to. While a web page is loading all you can see are Google ads flickering across the page. Or you’re on a site and when you move the mouse over a [...]
WordPress Plugin Update Notification
Last night I went out searching for plugin updates. I use quite a few plugins at all of my sites, so I wanted to get everything updated. After visiting countless sites, I became frustrated. Most people post about their plugins on their own blogs, but finding some updates is like looking for a needle in [...]
Card Converter Update
The Card Converter plugin has been updated. There were a few things that didn’t work after converting to be compatible with WP 1.5.
Tag, You're It!
Since I started using Flickr earlier this month, I’ve falling in love with tags. Using categories in WordPress has always been a burden, so made the move to rid the site of them. Using tags is much better way to classify things in my opinion. You can view a heat map or full list of [...]
Firefox on Steroids
As if Firefox wasn’t fast enough, you can make it run even quicker.
WordPress Fights Spam
As I mentioned on Friday, I had deactivated my spam prevention plugins. It’s been about 60 hours, but all of spam fighting techniques that are built into WordPress are working extremely well.
One thing I noticed however was pingbacks automatically being approved. I had trackbacks moderated by a plugin I wrote, but otherwise they would have [...]
Fight the Spam
Last night I deactivated the WP Hashcash plugin here and at 2 Hole Cards to see how it goes. As of right now, the only spam plugin I have activated is my moderate trackback plugin. We’ll see how the spam prevention measures that are built into WordPress do.
I Code
Today was the first day in a long time that I didn’t want to leave work at 4:30. I’ve been coding a program for the past week and because of the short work day I didn’t get time to work on it until almost 4:00. I was just getting into the zone and found out [...]
Trackback and Pingback Moderation Updates
I’ve updated the plugins for moderating pingbacks and trackbacks. They now work like I should have first created them. The PB or TB is set to moderate before being committed to the database. This eliminates my query to the database and it also allows WordPress to send you the correct email message. The latest version [...]
Updated WordPress Plugins
I’ve updated all of my WordPress plugins for WP 1.5 compatibility. Most of them would have functioned without a problem, so I didn’t make many changes. Enjoy!
MDV Archive
Want a better archiving system for WordPress? You may remember the old MtDewVirus archives system, but this is much better. The new theme system makes it possible. You can see it in action on the archives here at MtDewVirus and get the files at the MDV Archive page.
Forward
I’m pretty happy with the way the design turned out. I call it Forward because of it’s relation to my life right now. We can usually tell what is over our heads and what is under our feet, but we don’t always know what’s right in front of us. For instance, just look at the [...]
Change Of Scenery
MtDewVirus realy needs a change of scenery…I just haven’t wanted to spend the time on a new design though. WordPress 1.5 has entered the gamma stage, so it shouldn’t be long before the final release. Maybe that’s when I’ll work on some changes around here since there are some new features that I’ve planned to [...]
WordPress Plugin Repository
Recently, the WordPress Plugin Repository was launched, so I figured I should participate. I just got done adding all of my plugins. It’s a little bit of a process getting things in and out, but I think I got the hang of it now. I’ve created a page in the Wiki at wp-plugins.org that lists [...]
Coding Zone
I love it when I get into a coding zone. Over the last few days I’ve released moderation plugins, found a new contact form, fixed some of my old plugins, installed my archiving system on someone’s site, updated Poker Chip Tricks, and setup discussion forums. Phew!
Comment And Post Plugin Updates
I just updated almost all of the comment and post plugins. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and fixes.
Everything has been moved over the to WordPress Plugin Repository. See my list of plugins.
WordPress Plugins: Trackback And Pingback Moderation
These two plugins basically do the same thing, but I wanted to keep them seperate. When you turn one on, it will automatically place either all NEW trackbacks or all NEW pingbacks (depending on the plugin) into the comment moderation queue. It’s meant as a simple way to keep the spammers from getting these onto [...]

WordPress Plugin: Comment Author URL Stripper
As promised, I’ve created a plugin which removes the URL from a comment author if it contains any of the words specified in the Options screen. Too many people have been leaving comments and putting in yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. as their web site and I got tired of editing those comments all of the [...]
