The Detroit Tigers have sold 44% more season tickets than last year.
I’ve been watching quite a few of the Detroit Tigers games this year and they’re a fun team to watch. With Kenny Rogers coming off the disabled list and starting a game on Friday, he’s already giving the Tiger pitching a much needed boost. Detroit has taken over first place in the division and has been on a roll, winning their last 7 games. Nobody on the planet has a better offense, so once their pitching is back to last years dominance they’ll be a very hard team to beat. I really need to go down to a game or two.
After sweeping the Oakland Athletics in the ALCS the Detroit Tigers are headed to the World Series for the first time in 22 years. The Tigers are a team with 12 losing seasons in a row coming into this year and nobody gave them a chance. Jim Leyland and his “Cardiac Cats” have proved everyone wrong.
After failing to beat the Kansas City Royals once in the final three games of the regular season, and losing the Central division title, I didn’t think the Tigers had a chance. They came back from one game down to win three in a row against the Yankees and haven’t lost since.
The Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series. Detroit Tigers…World Series. Those words normally don’t go together. I’m not a big baseball fan, but I’ve attended two games already this year and next Sunday will be my third game of the year. Last night during the game, I hopped on eBay and bought 4 tickets to game 2 of the 2006 World Series. It came down to $468.50 for each ticket, but the price of seats is only going to get higher as the weekend approaches. Some people might think I’m nuts, but guess what…I’m going to the World Series to watch the Tigers!
Somebody pinch me…
The state of Michigan is excited about baseball for the first time in over a decade. Everywhere I go people are talking about the Detroit Tigers. In fact, just like night at Hooters I was wearing a Tigers hat and a random guy asked me if they were going to win game 1 of the ALCS against the Oakland Athletics. When two random people strike up a conversation you know there is excitement in the air.
I have to say that I really like their chances of going all the way. Beating up on a team like the New York Yankees can really boost the confidence of a team which lost their last 5 games of the regular season, which ended up costing them home field advantage in the first round (and now 2nd round as well). The Yankees were supposed to have the best offensive lineup in the history of baseball. “Murderer’s Row and Cano” is what they were being called by the press. Well, they got murdered. Detroit’s pitching shutdown the $200,000,000 lineup.
If the Tigers can keep the momentum going against the A’s I’m going to do everything I can to get tickets to the World Series. Something like this doesn’t come around too often.
Somebody pinch me. Our Detroit Tigers beat the defending Champion Chicago White Sox tonight to go up 5 1/2 games in the division. The Tigers’ records is 64-31. That’s 33 games over .500 for you math majors. Unbelievable!
The Detroit Tigers hold the best record in Major League Baseball at 27-13. Unreal!
Yesterday I went to see the Detroit Tigers play the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park. The Tigers came away the winners by a final score of 18-1. Out of the eight innings the came up to the plate, Detroit scored in seven of those with a home run coming in each of the first four innings.
Before the game there was a Youth Clinic on the field, so all fans were allowed to walk around and see some of the players up close. I was amazed at how perfect the grass on the field was. I wished I had brought my pitching wedge with me to hit a few over the fences. The grass was immaculate.
I just saw the Detroit Tigers on TV. In the middle of January, why are people playing baseball? And why is it on my TV?
